Changes in the new Industrial Stormwater General Permit
The new Industrial Stormwater General Permit became effective January 1, 2010. Changes to the permit include:
- New Mandatory BMPs.
- Benchmarks now trigger action for all parameters – no more Action Levels.
- Copper benchmark has been reduced from 149 μg/L to 14 μg/L.
- Level 2 and 3 corrective actions now triggered on an annual basis.
- Numeric effluent limits now apply to facilities with discharges to 303(d) waterbodies. Some sites must commence fecal coliform sampling.
- Monthly visual inspections now required.
