Dissolved Hydrocarbon Plume Delineation - Ferndale, Washington
is directing the monitoring of a dissolved phase
groundwater plume (BTEX) as part of a MTCA independent remedial action.
The next phase of the ongoing project will involve additional soil and
groundwater characterization and plume delineation. A workplan is
currently being negotiated which will propose collecting soil and
groundwater samples from 16 locations at the site using a direct-push
sampling drill rig. If the groundwater data indicates significant
biodegradation of hydrocarbons downgradient of the spill source, monitored
natural attenuation may be proposed as the remedial action for the site.
